Fused glass dishes are made by cutting individual design pieces from sheets of glass. The design pieces are assembled on a double layer of glass and then everything is fired in a kiln at over 400 degrees. A second firing, at a lower temperature, "slumps" the dish shape into a mold. These are LEAD FREE and safe for food. The dishes are remarkable sturdy and can be used the same as any everyday china and they are dish washer safe.  As with china, be cautious of quick temperature changes.  (HM) From "Cat" in Canby.
