My grandmother, Betty Lewis,  past away April 27th 6:10 am cst. She went peacefully in her sleep. I had gone home to get some much needed sleep and Shelia's mother Carol came to stay with her. Bet was never in the hospital alone.

I got to tell her how much I loved her and she told me as well. I know life goes on - but right now I can't see beyond this minute. Thank you so much for your support. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Humane Society, the ASPCA, a no-kill shelter or any animal welfare group. She loved animals as much I do.  Kim Bragg (granddaughter) Bet was like a mother to me and the sweetest lady that I ever knew. I love you and  rest in peace Mom-Bet.

Per her wishes she will be buried in Texas May 14th, 2011 and in Harrisburg on July 2nd, 2011.

Her Obituary

Betty Ellen (Freeman) Lewis, 90 of Richardson, Texas and formerly of Harrisburg, PA went home to be with her Lord on April 27, 2011. Born July 27, 1920 in Ford City, PA to John and Mildred Freeman, she was married to William Lewis for 32 years, all whom preceded her in death. Betty ”Bet” chose to live her life in Harrisburg, after being widowed in 1973 and in spite of some of her family members, she devoted her life to help raise two of her grandchildren Kim Harris-Bragg (Bill) and Thomas Dopp Jr. She was employed by several local retailers, and volunteered for civic organizations. She was avid homemaker and gardener. She often stated that her life was complete after moving to Texas with her granddaughter and her husband (with whom she resided). The last ten years were spent traveling throughout the country. She was fortunate enough to have met and count as personal friends some of America’s most well known celebrities, of today and yesterday. Her selflessness extended to animals, as she was very active in the rescuing and fostering of unwanted pets. She was preceded in death by an infant son (1956) and her only sister Margie Freeman. She lovingly leaves behind two daughters, Linda Carley (Don) of Port Allegheny, and Sue Mulvihill (Jim) of Harrisburg, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren and her extended family in Harrisburg, the Packard-Walker’s. “Bet” always had a kind word and smile for everyone. Mrs. Lewis requested that she be laid to rest near her residence in Texas and with her late husband and infant in Harrisburg. Her interment in Flower Mound, Texas will be on May 14, 2011. A service in Harrisburg will be scheduled at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, her granddaughter requests a contribution be made to any animal welfare or no-kill shelter. Arrangements are being handled by Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville, TX and Fackler-Weideman in Harrisburg, PA.
